There are currently a total of 118 tour camps with 5,300 beds in 16 aimags. There are some 35 to 40 camps that utilise ger type of accommodation. These camps have an average of about 25 gers each and a ger typically provide four beds each. From these camps, 26 have a one-star-rating and 21 have a two-star-rating. There are 197 hotels with the capacity of 5,000 beds in Ulaanbaatar and employ over 2,000 people. In provinces (aimags) there are 81 small and medium hotels with a total of 3,000 beds. Among these hotels, 25 have a one-star rating, 17 have a two-star rating, 8 have a three star rating and 1 has a four-star-rating. UB offers many comfortable hotels. Almost all of the major hotels have restaurants. The hotels are also likely to accept foreign currency as payment. Some even accept travellers' cheques and credit cards. Outside of the city you will find fewer hotels but staying overnight in a Ger is acceptable and the Mongolian people are very hospitable.
